A server is a large computer that is connected to a network which exists primarily to provide data, or facilitate networking to other computers that log into it (clients). A server can be connected to the internet (which is one form of network but not the only one), private corporate networks or research networks.
A Webservers is a common type of server that is connected to a network (internet) and allows clients (personal computers) to access data (websites).
