SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the web standard for encrypting communications between users and e-commerce websites. Data sent via an SSL connection is protected by encryption thereby preventing any 3rd party from viewing or reading data that is intercepted between the website and the website visitor. This means that private data sent to a website such as credit card numbers, are kept confidential. SSL Certificates (also known as Web Server Certificates or Secure Certificates) are required to initiate an SSL session between the website and the computer.

WildCard SSL Certificates

Site Seals
Site seals allow your customers to identify and confirm that your web site is using a leading SSL certificate. The seal resides on your web pages, identifying your site as genuine, authentic and validated by an independent third party. Below are examples of each of the available site seals.

GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium
QuickSSL Premium includes a dynamically generated site seal. When a customer clicks on the seal, the server automatically performs a domain look-up to verify they are visiting a legitimate site. It also provides a time/date stamp to ensure authenticity.
GeoTrust True BusinessID
Dynamic site seal — verifies that the website is owned by a legitimate business. The seal displays your company name and real-time date / timestamp using “Smart Icon” technology.
Unlimited Free SSL Certificate Reissuance
Certain SSL Certificates can be reissued at no charge if lost. Certificates may need to be reissued for a number of reasons, for example;
- upgrading or changing the web server software or operating platform
- migrating a website from one server to another
- an existing private key has been inadvertently lost, destroyed or overwritten
For SSL Certificates which allow reissuance, a new certificate is generated immediately after re-validating certificate information online. The reissued certificate will then be valid from the date of reissue until the original expiration date.
Dedicated IP Address
All SSL certificates require a dedicated (fixed) IP address configured on the hosting account. These can be purchased as an add-on product.
