Redalto Upgrades DNS

7 February 2007

Redalto Communications has re-engineered it's DNS system to offer customers an even higher quality hosting solution. With the implementation of new Nameservers in California, USA, Redalto now offers international redundancy on it’s DNS system. In addition to offering better quality assurance, the upgrade of the DNS will also offer better access speeds to Redalto hosting servers from international networks.

Why is it important for Nameservers to be geographically separated?

The DNS system determines which server a domain name points to. Even if your web server is up and running, it will appear as being down if a Nameserver fails to point web traffic to the correct IP address. It is therefore important that the DNS system is always operational. Geographically separated Nameservers means that even if the network goes down, the secondary Nameserver will still be operational because it exists on a unique and separate network.

Typically, low cost hosting providers will only offer a primary and secondary nameserver which are located on the same network, and even in the same building as their webhosting servers. This reduces cost, but doesn’t offer an acceptable quality for business web hosting.

With an geographically distributed and fully redundant DNS system, Redalto Communications further differentiates itself as a quality hosting provider.

How does the upgrade impact existing customers?

Existing Redalto customers have been automatically migrated and are not required to do anything.
